Role Overview
We are recruiting qualified healthcare professionals to work as Functional Assessors within a health assessment service. The role involves carrying out functional assessments for individuals claiming disability related benefits and producing clear, evidence based reports to support fair and consistent decision making. Assessments focus on the functional impact of health conditions or disabilities on day to day activities, rather than diagnosis or treatment. Full paid training is provided.
Eligible Professional Backgrounds This role is open to the following registered healthcare professionals: Nurse (RGN, RMN or RNLD)
Occupational Therapist
Physiotherapist
Paramedic
Pharmacist.

Key Responsibilities Conduct functional assessments via telephone, video or face to face consultations Review medical evidence and supporting documentation prior to assessments Carry out structured, objective and empathetic consultations in line with national guidelines Assess functional ability across physical, mental health and cognitive domains Produce accurate, detailed and timely written reports using digital assessment systems Ensure all work meets required quality, audit and performance standards Maintain professional registration and comply with clinical governance requirements .
Qualifications Essential Requirements Current professional registration with NMC, HCPC or GPhC as applicable Minimum of one year post registration clinical experience Strong clinical reasoning and report writing skills Ability to work independently while following structured assessment frameworks Confident IT skills and ability to use digital systems Desirable Experience Previous experience in functional assessment or disability assessment services Experience in primary care, community health, mental health or rehabilitation Understanding of disability related benefits such as PIP, ESA or Universal Credit
